When I grew up in this neighborhood, Ste. Marie’s church steeple was a focal point. Seeing it from a distance told me how far away from home I was. Many a time I looked up from that park below, and wondered what the view was like from this steeple. I finally found out, and now you did too. (see photo #HG022)

When I took this photo, I was leaning on one of the bells. The bells were installed in 1906 and there were some photos taken from the belfry before then. It was a tight fit and would have been tough using one of those large old time cameras with the bells there.

Notice that there is someone sitting on the park bench looking up at me. He never expected to see someone up there. I was fortunate to be doing this when the fall colors were coming out.  - Ron Boucher
