I grew up in this neighborhood and for us kids, this steeple was the landmark that told us how far away from home we were. The day I took this picture, I was wondering what it was like up there - as I had done many times since my childhood. I later did have the opportunity to go up the steeple & the result can be seen in panoramas #PA005 and #PA030.
I was tempted to call this one a vertical panorama because of how much is covered in the image. Standing this close to the church, you would never see all this without out tilting your head up. This image is best viewed with the bottom of the church at eye level.
Construction was started around 1890 but until about 1898 all they finished was the basement. The bells were installed in 1906. When viewed full size, this photo is like being there. - Ron Boucher -
